Zinc air hearing aid batteries contain only one reactive ingredient: zinc. When the oxygen enters the battery through tiny holes at the bottom, the zinc reacts with air and the battery releases a long, steady energy flow of up to 1,45 V.
That combination allows for a more steady flow of power, thus ensuring proper hearing aid functionality at all times. Compared to lithium technology, they not only contain more energy, they’re also much lighter - making them a lot more suitable and comfortable for your hearing aids.
Hearing aid batteries: best practices
Zinc air batteries provide reliable, long-term power. That is: if you know how to use them. Before insertion, batteries need some time to ‘activate’. To do that, remove the sealing tag first. Wait about five minutes prior to inserting it. This allows the battery to breathe. The battery will already have some energy before the tag is removed, but that energy flow is unstable and won’t last as long.

Also, if you’re not using your hearing aids (e.g. at night), try removing the cover of the device’s battery holder. That way, the battery gets fresh oxygen more easily. This will significantly improve battery life on the long run.
Remember: energy release cannot be reversed as soon as you remove the tag for the first time. Reapplying the tag will only stretch battery life a little bit. It won’t halt the energy flow entirely.
