Panasonic hearing aid batteries, or zinc air batteries, need air to work. As soon as you pull off the seal, air will flow into the battery, making it able to release energy. Be sure to let the battery breathe for a few minutes before inserting it into your device.

You can, but they’ll perform best in medium- to high-drain devices.

Panasonic zinc air batteries have been specifically designed for hearing aids, other batteries may not perform as well.
In appliances without a charging function, yes. In appliances that do have a charging function, be sure to check whether the function was specifically designed for Ni-MH. If not, it’s best not to use Ni-MH batteries.
